About Lisa Brewster

I graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Web Design and a minor in Theatre, spent a few awesome years in San Diego, and now live in Silicon Valley to work with Palm on their developer relations team.

I’m passionate about recording and sharing life’s little details, so my lifestyle is more open than most. Although they may seem like minutiae, when combined they become a powerful tool for analysis and reflection. I am constantly researching new tools to simplify the endless task of self-documentation.

I’ve been a photographer for about 10 years now. I became addicted to black and white photography in college, but without access to a darkroom I’ve now redirected my love affair to digital. I love to travel, so my Flickr stream stays populated with photos from both around the house and around the world.

In spite of my travel fetish, I’m an advocate for supporting local communities. I helped unite San Diego’s tech community by co-founding Barcamp San Diego back in 2007, and I promote local people, causes, and businesses whenever I can.

I used to identify as vegan, and still tell people that unless we’re really getting into details, but I’ve grown to believe that minimally processed, free range, organic food is better for you than many of the monstrosities of food science that qualify as vegan. I try not to eat anything I couldn’t make myself, with a bias towards locally produced food.

I’ll occasionally write here about projects I’m working on or major personal updates, but most of my thoughts are collected in iterative stages on my personal wiki. I also publish interesting clips of content and my favorite photos on my tumblelog. Or you could just follow me on Twitter for a mix of all of the above.
